    Meeting The Authoress!

With author & journalist Jill Robinson beside some rather beautiful sculptures in London’s popular Spitalfields Market. I now have all of Jill’s books! I’m really taking to her Hebden Bridge series focused on “small town oddness” and the eccentricities and quirkiness of village life in Britain. I love traveling to small towns, rural areas, the seaside and market towns in Britain, so that’s one of many reasons why I love Jill’s books. I didn’t really think I’d enjoy the books this much, given the fact that the protagonist is a middle-aged woman named Jess (probably based on the writer herself) but the books are funny, witty and rather heart-warming. Jill…

Get Waxed by the Dolly at the Parlour!

Had body waxing done at Guys and Dolls parlour in Brick Lane and was impressed by how quick and less painful it was, compared to treatments I’ve had in the past at other salons. This charming salon is conveniently located in our neighbourhood in Shoreditch and is close to The City.   The salon’s Director Shimol Kanuga is a beauty therapist herself and knows what she is doing. She uses Lycon Wax which is popular with celebrities. Australia’s Lycon Wax contains the finest resins, natural ingredients & aromatherapy oils to deliver superior performance, removing hairs as short as 1mm. With its low temperature it provides a comfortable treatment. Every time I go for waxing, I…

Lemon Compendium; A MUST-Have Book for Every Household!

Featured image; Yasemen Kaner-White at her book launch at Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Centre, London. Just after I published this post, and was about to (twitter) tag the author (Yasemen Kaner-White) of the book I am about to tell you all about, I wanted to call her personally and tell her to send a signed copy of the book to Nigella Lawson. So imagine how surprised I was when I saw this on Twitter. Pinned Tweet Yasemen Kaner-White @YasemenKW · Nov 20 Thrilled another lemon lover, @NigellaLawson herself, has featured one of my recipes http://www.nigella.com/cookbook-corner/view/lemon-compendium-144 … Isn’t that amazing? Perhaps the Gods of Culinary read my mind and sent a laser ray over to Nigella and Yasemen at the same time! How very thrilling…

Tips from Mr. Romania; The Fitness Instructor at Market Sports!

Well, he hasn’t really won a Male Beauty Pageant, but that’s the new nickname I’ve bestowed upon Lucian Comiza, my trainer at Market Sports Gym! He is always armed with hints & tips about exercise, diet etc, and I constantly ask him various questions. I thought I’d share some of what I found out, with you readers. What sort of foods would you recommend before a full body workout, and how long does one have to wait after a meal before doing the workout? Each person is different. Therefore goals vary from one individual to another. There is no such thing as a “perfect regime or diet.” It all depends on the individual and his/her goals. Before a session you…

    Seafood for Hungry Boys!

If you are a lover of seafood, you will certainly enjoy this dish at La Pappardella, London Earls Court. I absolutely love seafood linguine! One of my favourite restaurants in London, they do proper grown-up food (I stole that expression from Grace Dent!) for culinary adventurers that have a hearty appetite. Mussels, prawns and calamari soaked in cherry tomatoes, garlic and basil and a wonderful sauce. If and when you come towards Earls Court, do pop in! Best reserve your place as this charming Italian restaurant gets very busy in the evenings, and often during lunchtime too. They have just re opened after refurbishment. With a good wine list that compliments their authentic Italian cuisine, La Pappardella is much loved by the locals…

    A Parisian Afternoon in London!

Prix Fixe ?pri? ?f?ks,French p?i fiks/ “A meal consisting of several courses served at a total fixed price.” When my friend (ballet dancer) Joshua Royal told me he had got a part in the English National Ballet’s  Romeo and Juliet, we decided to celebrate by going out for lunch and catch up (something w’d been planning to do for ages anyway). I suggested the Prix Fixe Brasserie, one of my favourite restaurants in London. This charming little classic French Bistro with its daily set-menu specials and A-la carte menu, is intimate, inviting and THE place to enjoy a fabulous yet affordable contemporary French meal, in London. It is advisable to pre-book as…

Have an Affair in 1960s Rome!

I met author Gill Paul by accident. A beautiful woman with a cheerful smile and a warm personality, she was introduced to my by Karel Bata, a friend of Iain Clark (video producer and one of my best friends). You see.. Karel worked on the production crew for the pilot episode of the Emmanuel Ray Show, which I co produced with Iain. We became friends and he invited me to his birthday party at The Heights Bar in St George’s Hotel, Mayfair. And that is where I met Gill. Our conversation was brief but interesting. We got on like a house on fire and she told me about her latest…

Tigermonkey – OCD ADD ep out 18.2.2014

A fearless high octane Gangsta-Nerd duo with sassy lyrics and fast beats, Tigermonkey kindly agreed to perform in the Emmanuel Ray Show’s pilot episode, which is currently being edited.  The entire cast and crew enjoyed their performance and I was thrilled when they announced their latest project.  The unlikely yet perfect pairing of producer/vocalist Guy Katsav and vocalist Madeleine Dunbar, brings to life cross-genre music with a striking combination of bouncy African rhythms, Middle-Eastern percussive beats, electric guitars and catchy vocal hooks. They have already stormed the summer festival circuit and set the tone for major international campaigns from Olympic medalist Mo Farah’s Do The Mobot to Maria Sharapova’s Wimbledon Wiggle. For their new single OCD ADD, Tigermonkey…
