Seafood for Hungry Boys; straight from Poseidon’s Platter.. for our pleasure!
What can I say? The use of alliteration makes any individual sound intelligent. Oops, I did it again! Lol 🙂 (insert obligatory smiley face here!). I am a Foodie! Always have been. Most of my years in Sri Lanka were spent in Wattala, on the island’s west coast. Even when I went to Colombo, I would be drawn towards the coastal region. This was mainly because of my passion for seafood. Seafood is not only a passion. It is an obsession. I have at least one item of seafood a day. I can’t function without this. I remember yelling, shouting and crying as a Kid, pestering my father to take me to the…

My London Lifestyle Award Nomination!
A BIG thank you to all of you who nominated me for London Personality of the Year 2012 at London Lifestyle Awards. You can now vote for me by Clicking Here then scrolling down to the 6th category (London Personality of the Year), selecting Emmanuel Ray, scrolling to the end of the page, adding your email address and clicking “Vote.” My new PR person Tsvetelina Ilieva accompanied me to the event. I decided to keep things casual but colourful and unconsiously ended up wearing something old (my 90s jeans), something new (the Retro Days glasses), something borrowed (my friend Jazz’s Retro shirt!) and something blue (the iZipit bag). I didn’t think I’d end…

Cooking Dinner for Friends.
My friend Joanna Caveney and I decided to have a good-bye dinner for our friend Heiner Radau before he left for Germany. He had just completed his internship at Alexander McQueen and is all set to work on his own brand. Me with Joanna, Pat and Heiner. Mummy Pauline was behind the camera! I made seafood stir fry with prawns, scallops, couscous, tomato, olive oil, chopped vegetables, turmeric, garlic, onion and chilly seeds. Prawns taste amazing when cooked for 5 minutes in olive oil and turmeric! Just writing this blog post makes my mouth water. Maybe I should have saved some to eat right now! I rarely cook to…

Hair stylist Lukino Mantovani at Glass Hair Salon.
Lukino Mantovani, the new hair stylist at Glass Hair Salon, is brilliant! When the salon’s owner Petar Dragicevic, who usually cuts and styles my hair, suggested I try Lukino out, I instantly agreed. Lukino likes to take his time and delivers a great service. He did a slightly updated version of the page boy cut I so love (it makes me look younger!) and I’m very happy with it. Visit the salon’s website and book an appointment with Lukino Mantovani. He’s only been there for a week and is already getting many bookings. Word-of-mouth, as we all know, is the best PR!

Dinner at the YMCA.
Popped into the YMCA London Barbican for dinner and absolutely loved the delicious rice and tasty chicken. I went back the net day and had two portions of curry chicken! I mean, the dish was so delici0us with a perfect blend of spices and flavours. Surely this had to be cooked with passion? I met the chef immediately and congratulated her on her handiwork. This culinary madame is Abimbola Akinrele aka The Feast Chef. A charming Nigerian with a cheerful smile and pleasant personality, she specialises in healthy dishes for all occasions including weddings, birthdays and also makes yummy…

Golden Lane Members Club
After having a great time at the pub (see previous blog), my friends and I moved onto the The Golden Lane Members Club at Golden Lane Estate, London Barbican. They always treat me to free drinks and I kiss them in return! Isn’t Heiner’s expression cute? I love this picture Heiner took of Pat. She’s pointing towards her flat which is on the topmost floor of the building. So here they are, their hearts merry with wine! Pat, Pauline,…

Picnicking with Friends.
With the sun caressing London and everyone in high spirits, what better way to enjoy the summer than go picnicking with friends? I enjoyed a lovely picnic by the lake beside The Barbican, with my friends Martha, Raoul, Enrique and Heiner. Raoul made some amazing chicken and we also had salads, a variety of breads, cheese and dips, stir fried vegetables with seafood and a few drinks. Going for a picnic in your local park, or a nearby area that overlooks greenery or water, is a fun filled outing which is also cheap and cheerful. If you’re watching your pennies then this is a great way to socialise with your…
