Autumn Winter ’18 Menswear
A put-together suit; black vintage jacket, old pair of black jeans, a fairly-new light grey waistcoat and dark grey satin tie. I like mixing and matching contrasting fabrics (texture-wise), shades and of course old and new items. Now that the sun is shining brightly in October, in Britain, don’t forget a pair of fabulous shades!

Seafood for Hungry Boys; straight from Poseidon’s Platter.. for our pleasure!
What can I say? The use of alliteration makes any individual sound intelligent. Oops, I did it again! Lol 🙂 (insert obligatory smiley face here!). I am a Foodie! Always have been. Most of my years in Sri Lanka were spent in Wattala, on the island’s west coast. Even when I went to Colombo, I would be drawn towards the coastal region. This was mainly because of my passion for seafood. Seafood is not only a passion. It is an obsession. I have at least one item of seafood a day. I can’t function without this. I remember yelling, shouting and crying as a Kid, pestering my father to take me to the…

Man Hand Candy from Linnie Woods!
Isn’t this bag gorgeous? Google “clutch bags for men” and you will see the usual black and brown bags (so boring!). So when fashionista Linnie Woods gave me this fabulous bag, I was overjoyed! This is what clutch bags for men should look like. Colourful, flamboyant and eye-catching, while being practical and useful. Funnily enough, every time I carry this bag, something good happens. So maybe it’s got great positive energy too. Green, after all, is one of the most prominent colours of Daddy Nature (I say “Daddy Nature” as I am convinced that nature is a Man!) signifying lushness, abundance and plentifulness. And what about the splattering of Green on the Peacock; the Fashionisto of the Animal Kingdom?! He…

Nicole Farhi MAN, Autumn/Winter 2014 London Collections: Men
The comfort and informality offered by a well-crafted wardrobe are at the core of autumn/winter 2014. Cosy and masculine, the collection draws upon man’s need for tactile familiarity in a synthetic world full of digital distractions. The clothes have an eased silhouette with generous proportion. Creative Director Joanna Sykes translates outerwear staples into protective shells that are free from pomp and fuss. Made in collaboration with several English mills, each expresses Sykes’s purist vision. The collection includes English scuba wool flannel and snug shearling as well as double face construction. Tailoring is deconstructed and relaxed in cavalry twill jersey. Fabrics are fluffy and quilted, warm and laundered. Notably, they are organic and natural. Bouclé granite tweed sportswear, Ninja…

TOPMAN Autumn Winter 2014 Fashion Show at London Collections: Men
Stylish leather coats, vibrantly colourful knitwear and clean lines feature in Topman’s Autumn/Winter 2014 collection. I like the fine line between baggy and oversized, yet cut, stitched and finished just so! It gives the clothing a high fashion vibe. Watch out for pleated trousers in bright colours and simple yet elegant overcoats in soft colours. Style and comfort seem to harmonise in this collection. Photos courtesy of PHOENIX Magazine.

Meet Rosie May and Melody Ray!
These two lovelies are the Flamingos of Paolita! Joseph Bachman, co owner of Polita beachwear introduced them to me after their show in Baku, during London Fashion Week. Joseph told me that the flamingos have been around the world with the Paolita team and have been introduced to many people, but nobody had been able to come up with suitable names for them. I immediately named one Rosie May. After a few seconds of thought, I named the other Melody Ray. In fact, these are the names I’ll give me daughters if I ever have kids. Or maybe to my sons… if both of them grow up to become drag queens…

London’s Best Dressed Barman is in Baku!
This dapper chap is Martin Matos, barman at Baku, London’s top Azerbaijani restaurant & bar. I met him at the London Fashion Week show of PRITCH London and Karen K Boutique, where there was more drama than you can throw a high heeled winklepicker at! Impressed by his style, grooming and personality, I immediately decided to hire him as a model when I launch my bespoke fashion label. (cont..) He was in a light blue faintly checkered shirt, braces with purple and black checks and a black satin bow tie. He accidentally spilled wine on his clothes while serving the numerous guests at the bar (the fashpack love to drink!). Martin…

Formal Wear at Pure London A/W 2013
Black, maroon and red dominated the formal wear runway show at Pure London‘s Autumn/Winter 2013 event. Fitted dresses, trousers and skirts that flattered a woman’s figure, let her move easily, combining style with comfort. Shimmer and embroidery added a feminine touch to the neat, clean and sharp lines. Quirky accessories; gothic jewellery and shoulder adornments made of hair was a clever way of revolutionising formal wear, which can often look boring and mundane. Kudos to the Pure London team for a show that not only informed guests of the latest trends, but also entertained them.
